How We Test Every Discount Code

How We Test Every Discount Code

Most discount code lists are full of codes that quietly stopped working months ago. We built The Planet Deals to fix that, so here is exactly how we check a code before it goes on a page.

We start by adding real items to a cart on the store, the same way you would. Then we go to checkout and enter the code in the promo field. We only mark a code as working if we see the discount actually come off the order total. If it fails, it does not get published, or we move it to expired.

Every code we publish shows the date we last confirmed it. That last tested line is the most useful thing on the page, because a code is only as good as its most recent check. We retest popular codes regularly and update the date.

We also tell you when a code is not your best option. Many stores run sitewide sales that do not stack with a code, so when a live sale is larger, we say to use the sale instead. Our goal is for you to pay the least, not for you to use our code at any cost.

What we never do is invent numbers. We do not show a fake count of shoppers using a code today or a made up success rate. The only verification data we show is real team tests and real votes from people like you.
